Want more LinkedIn engagement? Forget viral tricks. Here’s what works—and what doesn’t—in 2025.
A business owner recently asked me to help her get more engagement on her posts here on LinkedIn.
It’s a common question, so I thought I’d share a few pointers here.
Here is what we are told by folks in the marketing world:
🔹Post consistently
🔹Post engagement questions and polls
🔹Don’t get personal on LinkedIn
🔹Stay away from controversial topics and politics
🔹Focus on original work, things you write
🔹Use AI. No one can tell and you can post more often.
The thing is, a lot of the advice that works on other platforms does not work on LinkedIn. And frankly, other than “post consistently,” most of that advice is absolutely wrong.
Instead, the single most important thing to do is to think of LinkedIn as a CONVERSATION.
Unlike most other platforms (especially Facebook and Instagram), LinkedIn prioritizes and rewards engagement of any kind.
✅ Engage in conversations in the comments.
✅ Invite people to connect, maxing out your opportunities each week.
✅ Start real conversations in the DMs.
✅ Repost others’ posts, and be sure to include your thoughts on the topic. (You’ll get better reach if you comment.)
✅ Post with passion!
✅ Humor is appreciated and many people are also fluent in sarcasm.
✅ Post consistently.
The crux of all of this is the build a community where you can grow your business, whatever that looks like. Which means you also need your LinkedIn profile to do its thing.
You can watch the masterclass on building a kick-ass profile (link here), or check out the Love Your LinkedIn company page on LinkedIn for points and the dozens of profile reviews I've done and will continue to do. I also post tips on this page.
If you're ready to turn conversations into opportunities, start with your profile. Join the masterclass or work with me directly to get yours done.
