What’s Going On with LinkedIn’s Algorithm? Why Your Reach Just Tanked

LinkedIn changed its algorithm. Here’s why your post reach tanked and how to adapt to the new rules.

LinkedIn has changed. What's going on—and what are you doing about it?

Lately, I’ve noticed a huge drop in reach. And I’m not alone.

Some of the top contributors in my network—Cindy Gallop, Erin Gallagher, Isvari Maranwe, Beth Massa, and plenty of others—are seeing the same thing. Our posts aren’t landing the way they used to.

Clearly, something has shifted in the algorithm. But what?

I did some digging. It’s not great.

Think Instagram + AI, all under the guise of “fostering meaningful connections.”

Here’s the short version:

1️⃣ LinkedIn now shows you what it thinks you want to see, even if it’s weeks or months old. (Yes, there’s a way to dismantle this. I’ll cover that in another post.)

2️⃣ When you post, how many people engage (not just like) in the first hour determines how much reach your post will get. Not much activity early on? You’ll be throttled. (Just like IG.)

This is especially problematic for people whose voices LinkedIn already deprioritizes: women, BIPOC, disabled, queer, and other marginalized creators.

But it does explain a lot.

Over the next couple of weeks, I’ll be talking about how to adapt—and why now is the time to optimize your LinkedIn profile, especially if your visibility is taking a hit.

If you want more on this, engage below so the algorithm knows you’re interested.

Is the new LinkedIn algo killing your reach too? Tell me below.
